March is Women’s History Month. This is a time to celebrate and uplift women’s equality and progress while also recognizing the contributions of women throughout history. The theme for 2025 is “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations,” which celebrates the women who have dedicated their work and lives to education, mentorship, and leadership.
International Women’s Day itself is celebrated on March 8. This date was inspired by that day in 1917, during the Russian Revolution, when women in Petrograd protested and went on strike, demanding food and the end of the Russian empire. A week later, the Tsar abdicated.
With Women’s History Month, and all “Identity Months,” being attacked by the current administration, it is imperative that we recommit ourselves to full and complete equality.
