On Monday, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his profound contributions to justice and equity in the U.S. and around the world. King famously once said that “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” At Mobilization for Justice, we take King’s words and work to heart. When we designed our logo, we created an arc bending towards the word “justice.” It serves as a constant visual reminder of why we do this work.
Striving towards equal justice for all remains as urgent as it ever has been. In the decades since King’s time, our nation has continued to struggle to embrace the principles he preached. Inequality of all kinds – race, gender, creed, and every other aspect of human identity – looms large. Unhealthy, ugly divisions threaten to render our society asunder.
And yet, there is much reason for hope. Hope from those who stare down hatred and choose love instead. Hope from those who fight for a better tomorrow. Hope when we recognize the many ways justice has advanced since King spoke.
At Mobilization for Justice, we are committed to being that hope, to moving forward with King’s wisdom and his steadfast belief in the possibility of an equal, just society.
