MFJ Statement in Response to Union Statement

The union of Mobilization for Justice (MFJ) staff (members of LSSA 2320) recently issued a public statement regarding events in Israel and Gaza. We want to make clear that the statement was not made by MFJ. MFJ is heartbroken by the many tragedies and injustices throughout the world, including the loss of so many Israeli and Palestinian lives. That said, MFJ avoids commenting on matters outside of our core mission, particularly when those comments may alienate members of our community and undermine our work. Our focus is on providing the highest-quality free, direct civil legal assistance to low-income New Yorkers. For MFJ to accomplish that goal, the people we serve as well as our MFJ colleagues must feel that MFJ is a safe place for them, regardless of who they are. MFJ vehemently condemns antisemitism, Islamophobia, and other forms of discrimination, and will continue to foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace.
