Harassed by Landlord, Chinatown Tenants Fight Back

MFY filed suit on behalf of elderly Chinatown tenants who are seeking an injunction and damages after their landlord repeatedly brought eviction cases against them for rent they did not owe.  Read complaint here. The case was resolved on 12/31/14 to the satisfaction of all parties.

Grandparents Struggle to Navigate Family Court

MFY’s Kinship Caregiver Law Project finds that grandparents provide 60% of informal kinship care, providing a caring home for children who otherwise would be placed in formal foster care. Yet they face formidable obstacles in navigating Family Court and getting the resources they need to provide for the children in their care.
